KiddiCat
Welcome to the Kiddicat – we call it our “adult sportive in a small package”
Following the success of the Kiddicat at Highclere Castle, we invite all aspiring young cyclists to come and ride the new 1.9mile Kiddicat in the exciting surrounds of Newbury Racecourse.
Kiddicat is the first multi-lap sportive ride in the UK that gives kids from 6 years upwards the opportunity to ride a sportive course just like their mum and dad with chip timing! There is no limit to the number of laps you can ride. This is what you will get
- Electronic timing and bike rider number
- Signed route
- Bike Support and First Aid
- Feed and Water station en route!
- Lots of encouragement!
- Medal and certificate at the finish
- Compare sportive results with your Mum and Dad!
- Results published on the website
- Family and Group discounts available
Kiddicat Ride and GPS Route Map:
The new Kiddicat course combines both tarmac and grass sections with a feed and water station at the halfway point. There is no limit to the number of laps you can ride and your bike number and timing chip ensure we will be able to record how many laps you ride, your start and finish time, and even your best lap!
Imagine cycling on a tarmac road next to the white rails of the racecourse and following the lush green turf for almost 1 mile, all within full view of the grandstands. A gentle curve takes you past the Kiddicat feed and water station and onto the start of a firm grassland track. Briefly rejoin the road and then ride along the old road track in between a beautiful lime and beech tree avenue before reaching the start / finish. Want to do another lap??
Kiddicat Support
- Thames Valley Police and Hampshire Police will be “patrolling” the route on their police mountain bikes.
- Winklebury Cycles will be on hand to fix any essential bicycle repairs that may happen and to talk to you about how to look after your bike.
- Newbury, Andover and Basingstoke Air Cadets will be assisting all round the course to help and encourage everyone.
- Newbury Road Club will be leading groups of cyclists and giving advice.

- Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Charity (JDRF) will be offering cool drinks and a tasty cake halfway around the course.
Kiddicat Safety
Our main consideration is that you are able to ride safely and enjoy the Kiddicat. In order to comply with British Cycling insurance all children under 12 years old and over 6 years old on 1st June 2010 must be accompanied by an adult/parent/guardian over 18 years old. Both the adult and child must be entered. An adult can be responsible for more than one child.
