Wiggle Magnificat Success

There are three main inter-linked challenges for the day: the 51 mile Communicat, 81 mile InterCat and the big challenge of the 127 mile Magnificat. As the longest route, the Magnificat takes on 9 major climbs and has a cumulative ascent of 2,800m – making the final downhill flourish back to the finish at Newbury Racecourse a moment for legs to savour! For intermediate and new sportive cyclists, the InterCat and CommuniCat routes (respectively) are perfect – with ample refreshments and smiles to keep riders energised!

Details of Junior Wiggle Magnificat and family cycling activities sponsored by British cycling taking place within Newbury Racecourse Grounds will be launched early in 2012.

Changing rooms, showering facilities and stands from Torq Nutrition and Wiggle all add to the on-the-day experience. In addition, British Cycling coaches will be around to advise riders on different aspects of their sporting performance – be it endurance, power or simple a bit of on-the-day encouragement.

What the riders had to say:
First time sportive rider Dominic Curran certainly enjoyed his success at the finish:
"It was without a doubt one of the harder 8.5 hours of my life round the 127 mile course but as my very first Sportive, the organisation of the event and enthusiasm of all the amazing volunteers on the course will take some beating. Look forward to coming back next year".
And perhaps the feelings of the day have been best captured by 127mile Rouge Lanterne Simon Lees:
"I can't express in words what a fantastic time I had on Sunday despite the weather. The support and encouragement from the excellent feed stations was fantastic. But nothing compared to the support I got over the last 12miles from the medic car, the two motorcycle safety outriders, and the fantastic reception I got at finish line. It was only my second sportive and I will definitely be booking up for next year."
